ADPRO launches new Presidium Intrusion detection technology and enhanced range of PRO series PIR detectors

(IFSEC APRIL 2007) On Stand 2010, Vision Fire & Security – the market leaders in video transmission with its proven ADPRO FastTrace and FastTX range – will be exhibiting new video surveillance and detection technologies including the new ADPRO Presidium, an easy to install Intelligent Intrusion Detection System, and the latest in its ADPRO range of PRO external detectors with enhanced performance characteristics.

The ADPRO Presidium is designed to deliver the maximum detection performance and minimum false alarm probability in the most demanding outdoor perimeter and area protection applications. Incorporating more than 25 years of Research & Development, the ADPRO Presidium utilises flexible lighting compensation, multiple scene models, and practical object filters to give the highest likelihood of detecting intruders under a wide range of conditions. Detection can be tailored for specific applications based on the level of perceived threat, with performance not being compromised during periods of scene change caused in, for example, cloud shadows.

The ADPRO Presidium also features automatic scene learning and intelligent algorithms to dramatically reduce false alarm rates caused by small animals, trees and their shadows, car headlights and adverse weather conditions such as heavy wind or rain.

The system’s reliability and performance is complemented by its ease of installation and commissioning; an intuitive PC-based graphical user interface (GUI) has an intelligent pre-configured settings feature that enables quick set-up either on site or remotely over IP. Comprehensive facilities are also provided that enable easy integration with the ADPRO FastTrace and FastTX products.

ADPRO Presidium also integrates with the PRO series of PIR detectors that now feature more product choice, superior detection capabilities, and enhancements including true Tamper Protection in line with BS8418, and optional power supplies including AC.

The ADPRO PRO Series are highly sensitive, standalone passive infra-red detectors designed for outdoor perimeter protection that will detect human targets up to a distance of 150 metres (492 feet) (depending on the model) by sensing temperature differences between them and the background. Due to the passive operation of the unit, the area being protected cannot be identified by the intruder, and the detectors are reliable in difficult conditions including low visibility, snow or fog.

At the top end of the range is the PRO 250A, a premium performance detector for high security perimeter applications, providing high performance digital signal processing, a small dead zone, and silicon window for long-life operation in harsh environments. The military-spec performance of the PRO 250A has been cascaded down through the development of the ‘smaller’ detectors for use in the commercial environment including two recently introduced variants, the PRO18 and PRO18H that provide wide area rather than the traditional curtain and perimeter protection.

Common to all models is the ability to adjust sensitivity to suit conditions, and adaptive threshold circuitry that reduces the number of false (or nuisance) alarms caused by moving vegetation, small animals and sudden environmental changes. All detectors are contained within a weather-proof housing and sealed against dust and moisture to ensure reliable operation even in the harshest conditions.

Particularly important is the new Tamper Protection feature across the range such that if the detector is moved from its installed position, it will generate an alarm that can be detected by the ADPRO FastTrace and FastTx products in accordance with BS8418. Further new developments include a wider voltage supply and a new AC power version, whilst a Thermostatically controlled heater maintains a consistent internal temperature to provide the optimum in detection sensitivity whilst ensuring reliable operation even under harsh weather conditions. High performance variants are available for use in the most extreme environments, ie intense heat or cold, where the highest performance and detection capabilities are paramount.
