Sharper, Faster, Smarter: The New AVT Pike F-505 12th February 2008 - Allied Vision Technologies is expanding its top class of cameras with a high-resolution 5 megapixel version. The new Pike F-505 offers a unique combination of sharp image quality, fast FireWire B data transfer and smart image-processing functions. I have very simple tastes: simply the best!, Oscar Wilde is said to have once remarked. Industrial image-processing users also expect the best possible performance without compromise: cameras with high-resolution, superior image quality and rapid data transfer. And the new top model Pike F-505 from Allied Vision Technologies can meet the most demanding requirements. Sharper High-resolution 5-Megapixel Sensor The Pike F-505 is equipped with the newest, high-quality Sony ExView HAD CCD sensor with 5 megapixels of resolution in a compact 2/3 format. The new model comes in black and white (Pike F-505B) and color versions (Pike F-505C). This high-resolution AVT camera can produce clear, sharp images for precision scientific and industrial inspection. Faster FireWire IEEE 1394b with Optional Fiberoptic Port Like all models in the Pike camera family, the Pike F-505 is equipped with a fast FireWire IEEE 1394b (S800) interface giving this model a frame rate of up to 15 fps in full resolution. And with True Partial Scan, it can provide higher frame rates at smaller AOI. The standard version has two copper connectors that allow several cameras to be linked together in a daisy chain. There is an optional fiberoptic version with one copper connector and one fiberoptic connector that can operate at distances of up to 500 meters (1500 feet) between the camera and the PC. Smarter AVT Smart Features Packet The AVT image-processing functions built into every Pike camera for optimized image quality and data-transfer-speed also help minimize the processing load on the computer system. The anti-smear function and 8X binning provide crisp, clear pictures in extremely high or low light conditions. In terms of speed, the packed 12-bit mode makes smart use of the bandwidth available on the FireWire Bus and can increase the frame rate by up to 33%. Other smart features, such as sequence mode and quick format-change mode, allow the user to make faster, more flexible parameter changes from one image to the next. The Pike F-505 combines high resolution, sharp images, fast data transfer and smart functions in a high-quality digital camera, explains Ingo Lewerendt, Product Manager of Allied Vision Technologies. So it should be very popular with developers of complex image-processing systems. The AVT Pike F-505 is now available. About Allied Vision Technologies Founded in 1989 Allied Vision Technologies was already rated as one of the most important suppliers of cameras and components for industrial image processing after a few short years.
