It's always nice to receive some good news stories, particularly at this time of the year, and for the employees of Californian based CCTV manufacturer Pelco, Christmas really is the season for giving.

Having originally started a very modest collection amongst employees back in 1993, the company was then able to donate 808 gifts to the fledgling "Toys for Tots" campaign.

Now some thirteen years later it's certainly been lucky for some, with the company's workforce managing to generate sufficient funds to donate a total of 1,039,936 toys to the annual charity campaign run by the US Marine Corps. For every toy donated by the workforce, the company contributes a further gift to the campaign.

At a pre Christmas event held at the company's Clovis headquarters, Pelco President & CEO David L. McDonald officiated at the handing over of this years gifts to the USMC. He was quoted as saying " Reaching one million toys is an amazing achievement - a true testament to the dedication and generosity of this great Pelco family. Each year I feel a tremendous sense of pride for our wonderful people when the toys are presented to the Marines. One million childrens smiles - and counting. There can be no more worthy cause than this."

A staggering achievement by all the employees, and as they say in the States ... "way to go!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup_anim.gif)
